On December 4th, the Worcester Chapter of the ACLU submitted a formal public records request to the City Manager requesting a copy of "any policy, memorandum or rule concerning photography in public places, including pools, ponds, lakes and beaches". The formal request was made after the repeated failure of informal requests.

That request, reported on earliershould have been responded to earlier this week. I followed up with Ron Madnick to find out the status of this public records request.

Interview with Ronal Madnick, Worcester County Chapter Director of the ACLU

Back on the 4th you sent a public records request and a press release out asking for a copy of the policy on photography, pools and beaches. Have you heard back from anyone in the City yet?

I hand delivered it to City Hall. I've heard nothing since that time.

And the requirement is by 10 days you're supposed to have an answer right?

What will happen, probably tomorrow, we'll send a letter to the Supervisor of Public Records asking for a ruling. Now we've been asking for these documents now for 3 or 4 months, ever since this past summer. This is out of character for the City Manager. Normally we get materials right away. So why its' been so long I don't know.

If there is no policy then at least we should be told.

So you're hoping this gets resolved soon.

I assume the Supervisor of Public Records will rule in our favor, he always does. We will then submit that to the City Manager and the City will or will not respond.
